Nokia Hero

Ever wanted to jam out on a Nokia phone? Now you can!

Nokia Hero is a fun and challenging musical rhythm game for Nokia Jam 6, inspired by Guitar Hero and Rockband. Using your melody keys, you can create actual musical riffs, as the keys take on one of 14 musical scales embedded in the game!

Controls

Inspired by the Nokia Phone's limitations, there are 12 controls for the whole game.

For menu navigation:

• Space Bar - accepts menu options
• Up/Down arrow keys - move up and down menu options
• ESC - opens the pause menu

During musical play, you have the melody keys. These are present anytime you are in the following modes: Play Song, Free Play, and Record.

The melody keys are the number keys from 1 to 8 on the top row of your keyboard. That's enough to hold an octave of a musical scale, and more than enough for epic jam sessions!

During Free Play and Record, you can change the musical scale that your melody keys sing to by using the Up/Down arrow keys to pick a musical scale.

Play Song

Play Song is the main mode of the game. You can select from 8 tracks to play, and shred away at getting a high score! Use the melody keys to play the tracks with nuance and finesse. Can you get a perfect score?

Note: You're not just limited to the 8 songs either. You can record your own songs and add to the catalog of tracks to play! You can even share with friends. Check the Recording section below.

 Free Play

Free Play is the resident practice hall of the game. Use this space to hone your riff making skills, and experiment freely with the musical tones available. You can come up with some surprising combinations in this mode.

Recording

Not only can you play tracks, but you can record your own songs too! Record mode is available to unleash your musical genius upon the world. While you're recording, you can swap between musical scales at any point to add variety and spice to your compositions, similar to Free Play mode.

To save your epic session recording, simply pause the game with ESC, and select Save Song. On your computer, the song will be stored in a songs folder right next to the game.exe that runs your game. All of your songs will start from the name "song9.json" and count up from there.

When you're done, you can either listen to your tracks, or play them to win a high score. Your songs are stored as JSON files, so you can share them with your friends as well, just make sure they put the song file in their songs folder too.  

Listen

If you just feel like kicking back and listening to the sweet tunes you composed, the Listen mode is just for you! You can hear your greatest hits and see them played out in real time.
